An AI Receptionist for Home Services and Trades

When you are under a sink or up a ladder, the phone wins or the job does. Vocanta answers every call, takes the job details properly, and books the visit or agrees a callback so the enquiry is still yours when you get back to the van.

The calls that go unanswered

Where home services lose enquiries on the phone

  • Enquiries arriving while you are on a job with your hands full
  • Emergency callouts at night and at weekends
  • Quote requests that go to whichever trade answers first
  • Callers who will not leave a voicemail
  • Repeat customers trying to book routine work

Emergency call while on a job

CallerI've got water coming through the kitchen ceiling.
VocantaThat sounds urgent. Can you tell me the postcode and whether you can turn the water off at the stopcock?
CallerIt's SE15, and yes I've turned it off.
VocantaThank you — I'm flagging this as an emergency now and the on-call engineer will ring you straight back on this number.
Emergency flagged under your rules · address and details captured · on-call engineer alerted for immediate callback

This transcript is an example of how a configured flow can run, not a recording of a customer call.

What it asks on the call

  • What the job involves and where the property is
  • How urgent it is, and whether there is a leak, outage or safety risk
  • Property type and access arrangements
  • Whether this is a quote, a repair or scheduled work
  • When they are available for a visit
  • Contact number and preferred callback time
After the call
  • Caller details, address and access notes
  • The job description and urgency level
  • The visit booked or the callback agreed
  • A written summary you can read between jobs and export later
How enquiries are qualified

Job type, location and urgency are captured on every call, using your definitions of what counts as an emergency. That means the enquiries needing an immediate response are visible straight away rather than buried in a list.

How appointments are booked

Survey, quote and repair visits are booked from the availability you make available, with the address, access notes and job description recorded against the appointment.

When a person takes over

Emergencies, safety risks, pricing questions and complaints follow your escalation rules — an immediate transfer or an urgent flag with a callback time and the reason recorded. Vocanta does not quote for work beyond fixed information you have configured.

Home services — questions we get asked

Can Vocanta give a price over the phone?

Only where you have configured fixed pricing for it to read out. Anything requiring judgement is captured as a quote enquiry and passed to you.

How does it handle emergencies?

You define what counts as an emergency. When a call matches, the agent follows your escalation rule — usually an immediate transfer or an urgent callback flag — with the details and reason recorded.

Can it book visits into our diary?

It offers the visit slots you make available, confirms one with the caller, and records the appointment with the address, access notes and job description.

How long does setup take?

Setup begins with a short call to agree which calls Vocanta answers, the questions it asks and where each outcome goes. After you choose the voice and we test the flow on your own example enquiries, most businesses are live within a few working days.

What does it cost to get started?

Plans start at £250 per month for 750 minutes of call time and are priced per business rather than per seat, with a 20% saving on annual billing. Higher plans add call time and assistants, and you can change plan monthly.
